Desmond Tutu Addressing Fall 2010 Parents Semester at Sea

Two drifters off to see the world

Away we go!

We are well on our way across the Atlantic Ocean now. The students arrived yesterday and you could feel the excitement in the air. The seas between Norfolk, VA and Halifax were really rough for faculty and staff orientation. Luckily we were able to spend the afternoon in Halifax visiting the Feltham family which was really nice having a home-made meal together. A hurricane is south of us so the seas are a little rough right now hopefully it won't get worse.

Arch Bishop Tutu made a speech to the community today and being the change and making the world a better place it was wonderful. Later when we were in the faculty/staff lounge Tommy went to the bathroom and on the way up helped Arch Bishop Tutu up the stairs! The lucky dog the chatted briefly and Arch braced himself on Tommy's arms to get to the bar for some snacks.

Working in the field office has been thus far and I looking forward to the adventures to come. We land in Spain next weekend until its the ship.

"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first and the lesson afterward."
