Hold me close and hold me fast.
This magic spell you cast;
This is la vie en rose.

When you kiss me, heaven sighs.
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose.

When you press me to your heart,
I'm in a world apart.
A world where roses bloom.

And when you speak,
Angels fly from above.
Everyday words seem to turn
Into love songs.

Give your heart and soul to me.
Babe, it's gonna be
La vie en rose.

Mmm, when you press me to your heart,
I'm in a world apart.
A world where roses bloom.

And when you speak,
Angels fly from above.
Everyday words seem to turn
Into love songs.

Give your heart, your soul to me.
Babe, it's gonna be
La vie en rose.

Social Change

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page

Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don't ever let them win

Vermont in January as you can imagine

Believe it or not it is cold in Vermont in January. It is the type of cold that makes it hard to imagine spring. It is the kind of cold that makes you imagine spring and hope for spring in a whole new way. I said the other day that the thing about this weather, this cold is that at least in the summer we will remember how loving the sun can be how our hearts are always capable of melting. The sun sets early in January in Vermont. Vermont.
